Mission Statement (Condensed): To provide fire suppression, fire prevention, and emergency medical services to the residents and visitors of the district. To engage in any appropriate activities which will minimize the effects of fires and medical emergencies thereby enhancing the quality of life in the community.
Membership: All property within the boundary of Pinewood Fire District, including west of I-17, are members of the Pinewood Fire District; directed by an elected five-member board.
Funding: County taxes assessed on property within the district; Fire District Assistance Tax, ambulance revenues, grants, and donations.
Meetings: District Board of Directors monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday at 3:00PM, Pinewood Fire Station and are open to the public.

Additional Information: The Pinewood Fire District provides full ambulance service with two ambulances at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level with 12 lead EKG capabilities and a medical direction interface with the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Flagstaff Medical Center. All Pinewood Fire Department (PFD) members are certified at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level or above with an impressive 60% certified at the level of Certified Emergency Paramedic. This places the PFD at a greater per capita level for paramedic coverage than all major metro areas in the country.
The PFD is also fully staffed 24 hours per day with a minimum of five firefighters certified by the State Fire Marshal as Firefighter II and with the National Wildland Coordinating Council as Wildland Firefighter II. In addition to these certifications, and as directed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) through Presidential Directive, all department members have been trained and certified as National Incident Command System (NIMS) qualified, and can work within the command structure of the National Response Framework.
Our complement of emergency response equipment includes two Type 1 engines capable of pumping 1500 gallons of water per minute and carrying an array of tools for firefighting, emergency medical services (EMS), vehicular extrication and victim disentanglement (Jaws of Life, etc.), and rescue. Additionally, we have two Brush Trucks (Type VI Engines) used for rapid wildland firefighting response to less accessible areas inside Munds Park and the forest surrounding our community.
For special operations capabilities, and to operate in support of our community in situations other than fire, rescue and EMS, the department operates a scene support trailer that includes a specially outfitted Polaris Ranger vehicle with 4-wheel drive capability and optional snow tracks for winter weather. We also utilize a utility 4-wheel drive vehicle that has been outfitted with a front mounted snow plow to gain emergency access to areas of Munds Park that have not been plowed during winter snowstorms, a real God send during 2010's record snowfalls.
With the competent and qualified emergency response personnel on staff, coupled with such specialized and well-designed equipment, the PFD stands head and shoulders over most departments three times our size, and we continue to develop new and progressive ways to increase our productivity while keeping our operating budget down.
